Stewardship - Invasive Plant Management and Garden Events - Caragana Clean Up at Carbyn Wildlands - August 6th, 2026
Date & Time: August 6th, 9:30 am to 2:00 pm
Come and join our staff at Carbyn Wildlands to clean up some Caragana! Although not a listed invasive weed in Alberta, caragana has a tendency to take over an area if left unchecked. This can lead to native plant species being outcompeted, which can have a harsh impact on this area’s natural integrity and biodiversity.
Located 130 kms north of Edmonton, Carbyn Wildlands contains a mature boreal mixedwood forest interspersed with spruce bogs and a meandering creek. Due to its proximity to Cross Lake Provincial Park, this land acts as an important corridor for wildlife moving between the many natural areas and crown lands in the region. This makes it even more imperative that weedy plants like caragana are taken care of!
This event is open to all volunteers.
