Date & Time: November 5, 11:00 am - 3:00 pm
Help us prepare this conservation land for opening. This site in Lac St Anne county near Lake Arnault has had a few events for stewardship work so far, and we are almost ready to open this land to the public.
The access point needs some adjustments, including installing some new fence posts to create a pedestrian gate and allow for a trailhead sign. Other signage needs to be added along the trail for wayfinding.
Accessibility:
- There will be up to 3 km of walking, while carrying supplies for the day - some supplies may weigh up to 20 lbs.
- The fence posts will be installed using a power-auger. Aside from that, the rest of the signs will be fixed to posts or trees using a hand-drill and hardware. All PPE will be provided.
- There are no outhouse facilities at this land.
Transportation Note:
- We have space for 1 volunteer in our work truck. Please email gary.elaschukpruden@ealt.ca if you want to ride with us. Please note that this will require you to meet us at our office 1.5 hours before the event starts.
What to Expect:
- Parking is on a grassy lease road that may have bumpy terrain.
- We will start the day promptly at 11:00 am with a safety and training meeting to go over our tasks and the associated hazards and safety controls. We will break for lunch around 12:00 pm and be finished by 3:00 pm.
- Plan to carry your personal supplies for the day (water, layers, snacks, etc.) in your backpack.
- There are no washroom facilities on this land, we find privacy behind a tree.
What to Wear and Bring:
- Comfortable clothing and outerwear for working outdoors all day, including long pants and layers appropriate for the weather.
- Hiking shoes or sturdy running shoes – no slip-on shoes please!
- Lunch and water, and a backpack to carry them.
- All tools and supplies will be provided but you may bring your own work gloves if you wish.
- Optional:
