EcoTEAM

EcoTEAM is one of our longest running programs. Our goal is to restore ecological function and wildlife habitat, using reference ecosystems within the park to guide our efforts and support natural succession. While we can’t fully return the forest to its pre-logging and pre-urbanization state, our work aims to foster a healthy, thriving environment. Dress for the weather, wear boots & a hat, and bring a water bottle.

When: Saturdays from 12:30PM – 3:30PM

Camosun Bog Restoration Group (CBRG)

The “crazy boggers” are a constituent group of the Pacific Spirit Park Society and work closely with Metro Vancouver park management to achieve our vision of the restoration of Camosun Bog. We focus on research, planning and promotion of the bog, as well as ongoing restoration work.

We welcome new volunteers who are prepared to make an on-going commitment to our work. Dress for the weather, wear boots & a hat, and bring a water bottle.

When: Saturdays from 9:30AM – 11:30PM, followed by a break for tea.

Camosun Bog Water Level Monitoring

This team monitors the piezometer and well levels in Camosun Bog weekly. This water level monitoring is key to understanding the health of the bog over time.

When: Saturdays from 9:30AM – 11:30PM, followed by a break for tea.

Eagle Nest Monitoring

Our Eagle Nest Monitoring Program is a vital initiative dedicated to the protection and observation of the majestic eagles that call Pacific Spirit Regional Park home. Each year, volunteers and community members work together to monitor eagle nests throughout the park, collecting important data on nest activity, eagle behavior, and breeding success.

When: Volunteer dependent, reporting due monthly.

Streamkeepers: Invertebrate Sampling and Bug Count

Invertebrates serve as key indicators of water quality and habitat conditions, making this monitoring essential for understanding the overall health of the salmon ecosystem. We are seeking dedicated leaders to help run these important sampling sessions, guiding volunteers as they collect and analyze data that directly contributes to the conservation of these crucial habitats.

When: Twice yearly, in August.

Ecological Restoration Monitoring

Our Ecological Restoration Monitoring Program is dedicated to ensuring the long-term success of our restoration efforts within Pacific Spirit Regional Park. Through regular photo monitoring of past restoration sites, we track the health and productivity of these areas over time. This visual documentation allows us to assess the progress of native vegetation growth, the return of wildlife, and the overall recovery of the ecosystem.

When: Annually, in Summer.

EcoWALKS Program

Our EcoWALKs Program offers an engaging way to explore the beauty and diversity of Pacific Spirit Regional Park through guided interpretive nature walks.

For those interested in becoming walk leaders, our leadership training program offers hands-on experience through walk shadowing. This allows aspiring guides to learn the art of leading interpretive walks, gaining the skills and confidence needed to inspire others.

When: The first Sunday of every month, plus walk preparation for leaders.

EcoTABLE Program

Our interpretive nature table serves as a welcoming hub for visitors to learn about the park’s rich ecosystems, discover our programs, and engage with the natural world. Staffed by knowledgeable volunteers, EcoTABLE offers hands-on learning experiences, educational materials, and information about upcoming events and initiatives. Volunteer to help lead an EcoTABLE today!

When: Summer, bi-weekly on Saturdays from 11:00AM – 1:00 PM

EcoKITS Program

Our EcoKITS program is designed to bring the wonders of Pacific Spirit Regional Park into classrooms across the Vancouver School District. Tailored for K-7 students, these interpretive learning kits provide hands-on educational materials that teachers can rent to enhance their lessons. We are seeking passionate educators interested in developing and updating these kits to ensure they remain engaging and informative. Volunteers will play a crucial role in expanding our collection and creating new resources.

When: Monthly meetings, committee-directed initiative
