Z. Other Organization Volunteer Opportunities - Friends of Semiahmoo Bay Society - European Green Crab Trapping - White Rock

Another season of European Green Crab (EGC) trapping has officially begun, and we’re looking for passionate volunteers, both new and returning, to join our efforts!

Whether you're a seasoned trapper or just curious about how you can help protect local ecosystems, this is a great opportunity to get involved in meaningful, hands-on coastal conservation work.

Why Volunteer?

European green crabs are an invasive species that threaten BC’s native shorelines and marine life. With your help, we can reduce their impact and protect vulnerable habitats one trap at a time.

How to Participate:

To join the 2025 EGC trapping program, please complete the following:

  1. Complete the mandatory 1-hour online training
Trapping & Licensing: European Green Crab
(Note: If you've done this in a previous year, you don’t need to retake it—unless you'd like a refresher!)

  2. Sign the 2025 volunteer waiver

  3. Send your documents
Please email your training certificate and signed waiver to both:

  4. Fill out the volunteer contact form (if you haven’t already):
    Volunteer Info Form

Once these steps are complete, we’ll send you the trapping schedule so you can sign up for dates that work for you.

Help Needed ASAP!

We’re currently seeking volunteers for the following early-season trapping dates:

  • April 21

  • April 22

  • April 30

  • May 1

If you're available, we'd love to have you on board - every trap counts!
