The 2022 SALA Festival is nearly here, and we need your help!

We are seeking volunteers to get involved with this year's events, to support staff in the delivery of new projects, and engage with our audiences to support unique artistic experiences.

Volunteering with SALA is a great opportunity to broaden your skills, experience, and networks within the arts industry.

Volunteers who are currently applicants or volunteers with SALA will be notified via email of the application and selection for this year's process.

SALA Finissage - Greeter and Attendant

SALA Festival is seeking confident, friendly and approachable individuals to volunteer as Greeters for the SALA Finissage.

Greeters will be required for an hour or two at the beginning of events to direct guests and answer general questions about the event.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Greeting attendees as they arrive, offering guidance into the event, and directions to amenities (bar, exhibition) and facilities.
  • Support general enquiries from attendees.
  • Distribute programs to attendees upon their arrival.
  • Direct attendees to follow any COVID-19 health requirements of the event (this can include venue check-in, or other requirements as identified by the Festival or State Government)
  • Work with the SALA staff to support the event.

SALA Opening Night - Greeter

SALA Festival is seeking confident, friendly and approachable individuals to volunteer as Greeters for the SALA Opening Night.

Greeters will be required for an hour or two at the beginning of events to direct guests and answer general questions about the event.

  • Greeting attendees as they arrive, offering guidance into the event, and directions to amenities (bar, exhibition) and facilities.

SALA SILVER Exhibition Opening Night - Greeter

SALA Festival is seeking confident, friendly and approachable individuals to volunteer as Greeters for the SALA 'SILVER' Exhibition Opening Night.

Greeters will be required for an hour or two at the beginning of events to direct guests and answer general questions about the event.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Greeting attendees as they arrive, offering guidance into the event, and directions to amenities (bar, exhibition) and facilities.
  • Support general enquiries from attendees.
  • Distribute programs to attendees upon their arrival.
  • Direct attendees to follow any COVID-19 health requirements of the event (this can include venue check-in, or other requirements as identified by the Festival or State Government)
  • Work with the SALA staff to support the event.

SALA Hub Attendant

SALA Festival is seeking confident, friendly and approachable individuals to volunteer as Attendants at the SALA Hub. 

SALA Hub at Queens Theatre is a place where artists and audiences can come and sharpen skills, try something different or simply kick back in the Queens new arts and live music bar.

Volunteers responsibilities include:

  • Greeting visitors.
  • Explain activities available at the SALA Hub to visitors.
  • Distribute programs to visitors.
  • Offering help in navigating the space (the exhibition, workshop areas, bar, and facilities).
  • When appropriate, offer tips and recommendations on additional SALA events and exhibitions.
  • Fill in the Volunteer Communication book with relevant information about public engagement.

Shifts are approximately 3 hours, with two shifts available each day the Hub is open.

SALA Workshop - Assistant

SALA Festival is seeking confident, friendly and approachable individuals to volunteer and assist with SALA Hub Workshops. 

SALA Hub at Queens Theatre is a place where artists and audiences can come and sharpen skills, try something different or simply kick back in the Queens new arts and live music bar.

Volunteers responsibilities include:

  • Assist the workshop presenter where appropriate.
  • Greeting visitors.
  • Explain activities available at the SALA Hub to visitors.
  • Distribute programs to visitors.
  • Offering help in navigating the space (the exhibition, workshop areas, bar, and facilities).
  • When appropriate, offer tips and recommendations on additional SALA events and exhibitions.
  • Fill in the Volunteer Communication book with relevant information about public engagement.

Shifts are approximately 3 hours.

SALA Slide Night - Greeter and Attendant

SALA Festival is seeking confident, friendly and approachable individuals to volunteer as Greeters and Attendants for the SALA Slide Night.

Greeters and Attendants will be required for an hour or two at the beginning of events to direct guests and answer general questions about the event.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Greeting attendees as they arrive, offering guidance into the event, and directions to amenities (bar, exhibition) and facilities.
  • Support general enquiries from attendees.
  • Distribute programs to attendees upon their arrival.
  • Assist attendees with accessing online portal for SALA merch sales
  • Direct attendees to follow any COVID-19 health requirements of the event (this can include venue check-in, or other requirements as identified by the Festival or State Government)
  • Work with the SALA staff to support the event.

To create and sustain an environment in which South Australian visual artists are supported, valued and celebrated.

SALA provides a range of opportunities and initiatives that celebrate and promote South Australian visual artists, locally, nationally and internationally. Initiatives include the annual SALA Festival, an innovative, community-based State-wide festival.
