Pulmonary Rehab Hub Volunteer (Luton)

The Community Respiratory Service aims to provide holistic care and support for adults who are diagnosed with a range of chronic lung disease including Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Asthma, Bronchiectasis and Interstitial Lung Disease.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation is an evidenced based exercise and education programme for people with a lung condition. The service provides a 6 week programme which includes 2 sessions a week – with each session providing an hour of exercise and an hour of education. Before enrolling on a Pulmonary Rehab programme, patients attend a 1.5 hour face to face assessment to assess the safety & suitability of them to exercise. The assessment clinics are run as Hubs with several patients attending at one time.

This volunteer role will support the Community Respiratory Service by helping with the assessment process – greeting patients, supporting them to complete relevant questionnaires, providing refreshments and escorting patients to see the relevant clinician when needed, and assisting with administration tasks.

If you’re over 16 years of age, and have an interest in supporting people to improve their own health outcomes, then we would encourage you to apply! Previous participants of the pulmonary rehabilitation programme are welcomed.

Training & support is provided throughout your volunteering experience.

This role is based at:

Luton Treatment Centre, Vestry Close, Luton, LU1 1AR on Mondays and Fridays.
