Falls Team Volunteer (Luton)
The Luton Falls Team is made up of a variety of professionals, including occupational therapists, physiotherapists and falls support workers. The team assess patients following a fall / patients at risk of a fall, and provide support and intervention to reduce the risk of further falls. Referrals to the service can be made by the patient themselves, or any health, social care or voluntary services professional.
This volunteer role will assist the Falls Team at Strength & Balancing Classes at various community venues within Luton, helping to set up sessions, providing support and motivation to patients, as well as collecting patient feedback about the sessions.
We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of 6 months volunteering, for 2 hours per week (according to the times of the Strength & Balancing Classes).
If you’re over 18 years of age, and have an interest in supporting people to improve their own health outcomes, then we would encourage you to apply! People with lived experience of how exercise has aided their recovery after a fall are welcomed. Volunteers should be physically able to join in with Strength & Balancing activities.
Training & support is provided throughout your volunteering experience.
This role is based at various community venues in Luton on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday mornings.
