Eye Clinic Volunteer (Luton)
Bedfordshire & Luton Community Eye Service is led by orthoptists and specialises in diagnosing and treating eye conditions.
The team helps children and young people aged between 0-18 years with a range of eye issues such as reduced vision, squints, eye muscle defects, issues with depth perception and other visual abnormalities. They also provide support with screening children with special educational needs. Screening takes place at specialist clinics across Bedfordshire and Luton.
Volunteers will support the Eye Service by welcoming children and families and providing support while they are waiting and during appointments, to assist with the smooth running of the Liverpool Road Health Centre clinic in Luton.
The Eye Service sees children from a wide range of backgrounds, aged between 0-18 years, with varying ranges of needs and abilities. Volunteers must be comfortable with communicating with children and families regardless of their background, age, need or ability.
This volunteer role is available Monday-Friday, with morning or afternoon sessions available (either 9.00am -12.00pm or 1.30pm - 3.30pm).
We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of 6 months volunteering after recruitment checks have been completed.
