Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Volunteer (Bedford Borough & Central Beds)

Our NHS Children’s Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) service provides specialist support to children with speech, language and communication needs across Bedfordshire and Luton. This volunteer opportunity is a wonderful opportunity to help families and children communicate, as well as be part of a team, giving back to and gaining experience of the NHS.
Volunteers will support the Early Communication Support Team and 0-19/Children's Centre Communication Champions at our Chattertots/Chatterbabies sessions, as well as Makaton courses, library Rhymetime and universal Stay & Play sessions at children's centres, helping to develop children's listening and talking skills.
The role will include welcoming families and assisting with activities, as well as admin tasks.
We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of 6 months volunteering, for approximately 2 hours a week, with the option for more hours if desired.
Volunteers will need to complete online training, accessed either as bespoke training or via our Child Speech Bedfordshire website. Ongoing training & support is provided throughout your volunteering experience.
Volunteers are required in Bedford Borough & Central Bedfordshire. The Bedford Borough opportunities are likely to be on Thursdays/Fridays, with the Central Beds opportunities generally being Monday-Wednesday. Volunteers will be given a timetable each term with sessions to sign up for.
