Stroke Art Group (Neuro Therapy) Volunteer (Bedford Borough)
Our Neuro Therapy Service are a multidisciplinary team comprising of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists, and assistant practitioners, who are specialists in neurological and stroke rehabilitation within a community setting.
The team provides support to Brushstrokes Art Group, which is a support group for stroke survivors to create art and crafts to promote positive wellbeing and stroke recovery. It takes place in Biddenham on Friday afternoons in term time.
The sessions also provide a social space to share experiences and offer support, encouraging conversation, which is helpful for stroke survivors who have experienced communication difficulties since their stroke.
This volunteer role will assist the Brushstrokes group leader and Neuro Therapy Service during these group sessions, supporting and encouraging participants so that they can benefit fully from the sessions.
We ask volunteers to commit to a minimum of 6 months volunteering after recruitment checks have been completed. Volunteers can attend sessions weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
Volunteers need to be over 18 years of age for this role.
Training & support is provided throughout your volunteering experience.
