Summer Adventure volunteer schedules and assignments will vary, depending on the needs of the individual library.

Some duties may include,

  • Play with/read to youth in children’s area
  • Help at Summer Reading parties!

  • Assist patrons with Laser Cutter issues
  • Clean and troubleshoot equipment with staff oversight
  • Assist with passive programming
  • Shelving books
  • Ordering the books on shelving carts
  • Finding on shelf hold items
  • Shelf reading
  • Neaten shelves and shelving areas

To apply, use the "Fill in an application" link to the right.  If you scroll to the bottom of the application, you will see the branches which have openings.  If the library is not listed, it means they have reached capacity and are no longer accepting applications.

In addition to a required interview and orientation, We ask teen volunteers to commit to a minimum of two shifts during the summer, which last 1-3 hours per shift.  Teen volunteers are certainly welcome to volunteer more than that, but we cap volunteer participation at 10 hours a week.

We understand that summer is a busy time, so each branch will provide a calendar that shows available shifts, and teens are able to sign up for times and days that are convenient for them.
