Library 21c Library Helper
LIBRARY HELPER - Library 21c
PRINCIPAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES: includes some or all of the following, depending on need,
- Assist with program preparation and/or facilitation
- Prepare program materials
- Assist with program set-up/take down
- Assist with program facilitation
- Assist with clean up after program
- Assist staff with everyday functions of the library
- Finding on shelf hold items
- Assist in organizing book donations
- Shelving books
- Shelf reading
- Neaten shelves and shelving areas
- Clean toys
- Clean computer area
- Inventory board games
- Complete other tasks as needed
SKILLS NEEDED:
- Excellent reading skills
- Ability to communicate with children and adults
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to focus on tasks
TRAINING:
- Volunteer Orientation
- Workforce Readiness Training
- Additional trainings as required, such as
- Ergonomics/safety training
- Pull list training
- Friends of the Library sorting training
- Working with Children
TIME COMMITMENT:
- Attend programs as needed
- Specific schedule to be arranged with library
- Shifts are generally last 2-3 hours about once a week
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to stand for extended periods on a daily basis
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50lbs
Review Crew - Virtual
The Review Crew is a way for teens (ages 13-18) to earn volunteer hours by writing qualifying reviews that will be published on Pikes Peak Library District’s teen website. Check out some of our book reviews at https://ppld.org/teens/book-reviews for examples.
Once we receive your application, we will reach out with more information on how to submit reviews for volunteer credit, and what criteria must be met for the reviews to qualify. Please ensure that the email you list in your application is one that you check often.
All submitted reviews will be evaluated to ensure they meet our quality and content standards before being published on the website. PPLD may refuse to post any review, at our discretion.
Hours:
- 1 qualifying book review = 1 hour volunteer service
- You may review a maximum of five books per month
