Book Mobile Program
‘Book Mobile’
The "Book Mobile" Volunteers tasks are to take a trolley with books and magazines through the wards for patients.
The “Book Mobile” program not only provides a delightful escape for patients through the magic of stories but also fosters a sense of connection and companionship. The cheerful chatter of volunteers as they navigate the hospital corridors with their colourful trolley brings a touch of warmth and humanity to the clinical environment. Patients often look forward to these visits, finding comfort in the pages of a book or the friendly conversation with a volunteer.
In addition to offering reading material, the volunteers are happy to also read to the patients. This interaction can be particularly uplifting, offering a brief respite from their medical concerns and a reminder that they are not alone.
The selection of books and magazines is thoughtfully curated, ensuring there is something for everyone, from gripping mysteries to heartwarming romances, inspiring biographies to the latest in scientific discoveries. The Book Mobile is more than just a delivery service; it’s a beacon of hope and joy, bringing the outside world into the hospital and reminding patients of the beauty and diversity of life beyond their current circumstances.
The "Book Mobile" is run Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
