Clinic Support- Day Surgery
Day Surgery is a high- volume ambulatory setting that provides patient care 7 days a week for about 60-85 patients per day. Volunteers support the front end of the clinic from both patient communications and a patient flow perspective.
- Assist with Patient Communications- interact with patients that arrive to the clinic, provide directions, and escort if necessary.
- Assist with Patient Flow and Supporting Processes
- Accompany discharged patients to the main entrance of the hospital and wait with them until discharge transportation arrives to pick up patient
- Assist in taking pre-operative patients to assigned bed at the direction of the Charge Nurse
- Organize and restock supplies: warm blankets, kitchen supplies, bedside supplies
- Assemble patient linen packs- patient gowns, booties, flannel sheet
- Provide support to visitors in the waiting room area
- Act as liaison between family/friends and unit staff
- Adhere to strict confidentiality
