Role title: Warm Space Host Volunteer

Responsible to: Front line Officer
Role purpose:
- To be part of the library or Community Hub team that helps residents to feel welcome in the designated warm space during winter
- Through offering a warm welcome, somewhere comfortable and warm to sit and make a hot drink
- To ensure there are activities such as newspapers, puzzles and other pastimes
- To meet with the wider team to understand what services are on offer and promote these to residents
- To be responsible for making the warm space a welcoming environment
- To ensure the space is set up ready to welcome people and use resources available
- To gain experience in signposting residents who might need further help
- To maintain strict confidentiality related to information held concerning residents
- To ensure your own professional development (PDP) is progressed and evidenced
- To gain experience in communicating effectively and sensitively with residents
- To gain experience with evaluation of services and record-keeping

We will provide you with training and support for this role using the council’s iLearn training system. Courses include:

Further training opportunities may become available.
We will also provide you with a reference after three months volunteering.
