Fundraising and Events Assistant

ROLE PURPOSE & HOW YOU HELP 

As a Volunteer Fundraising & Events Assistant, you will play a vital role in raising funds to support people experiencing homelessness to access and utilise our services at Chances House 

 

 

LOCATION: Chances House - 2 Endeavour Street Mackay + various event locations in the Mackay region.

 

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Volunteer 

 

HOURS:   

  • 4-6 hour shifts at various events as required (typically, events are held on weekends or after hours)
  • Various hours throughout the week as needed, particularly leading up to events (flexible, approximately 2-3 hours per week)
  • One x 1 hour Fundraising Meeting per month. (May be at Chances House, Online or elsewhere) 

This does not include travel time. Flexible volunteer options may be available.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Assist with planning of various events, appearances and stalls for the purpose of promoting and raising funds for Australian Street Aid Project.
  • Assist with transporting and setting up equipment at various events, appearances and stalls
  • Help to secure and collect donations from local businesses in instances where prizes are required (raffles etc.)
  • Assist with ticket sales as required
  • Collect monetary donations/event revenue on behalf of Australian Street Aid Project and safely store/transport as required
  • Engage professionally and effectively with other volunteers, community members, event hosts/staff, businesses and other stakeholders at events, ensuring that you always represent the values and professionalism of Australian Street Aid Project and escalate situations to management when required.
  • Attend monthly Fundraising and Marketing meetings and contribute your ideas, raise any concerns, and communicate with the team in a respectful manner.
  • Ensure you maintain the privacy and confidential of service users, volunteers and staff.
  • Participate in regular meetings and training sessions.
  • Effectively utilise the online volunteer portal for checking and updating your roster, learning, and communication with us.

  • Current Working with Children Blue Card
  • Ability to manage relationships with complex individuals.
  • Proficiency in negotiation and de-escalation techniques.
  • Commitment to regular meetings and training.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
