(Chances House) Food Prep
Role purpose and how you help.
Spend a morning in the van preparing meals sandwiches etc. for clients throughout the week.
Duties will include, making sandwiches, cooking meals as per instructions, prepping vegetables for other meals.
Handing out meals for that day.
Cleaning the van after use.
Labelling and storing the cooked food appropriately.
Hours
9.30 to 1.00 usually Wednesday, however, we can be flexible.

One X 3.5 hour shift per week (at Chances House) 9.30am to 1.00pm - Flexible
Complete online food handling course + 1.5 hours learning and development per month. (May be at Chances House, Online or elsewhere)
This does not include travel time. Flexible volunteer options may be available.

ROLE PURPOSE & HOW YOU HELP
As a Food Prep Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting people experiencing homelessness access and utilise our services at Chances House. You will demonstrate a willingness to learn and practice a trauma informed approach in alignment with our mission, vision and values.
SUPERVISION & REPORTING
Your direct supervisor is the Volunteer Coordinator.
The CEO may also provide supervision if the Volunteer Coordinator is unavailable.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Food preparation, including: making sandwiches, cooking meals as per instructions, prepping vegetables for other meals.

Serve food to clients

Operate and clean the coffee appliances

Clean surfaces and appliances, empty bins, sweep & mop floor,

Keep fridge clean

Food rotation and labelling
-
Maintain a clean workspace and hygienic food handling processes

Use a trauma informed approach to provide client support

Assist in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment at Chances House.

Ensure you maintain the privacy and confidential of service users, volunteers and staff.

Participate in regular meetings and training sessions.

Effectively utilise the online volunteer portal for checking and updating your roster, learning, and communication with us.
