Food and Hospitality Champion

ROLE PURPOSE & HOW YOU HELP 

As a Food and Hospitality Champion, you will play a vital role in supporting people experiencing homelessness access and utilise our services at Chances House. You will demonstrate a willingness to learn and practice a trauma informed approach in alignment with our mission, vision and values.  

 

LOCATION:  Chances House, 2 Endeavour Street Mackay 

 

HOURS:   

One X 3.5 hour shift per week (at Chances House) 6:00am to 9.30am 

Complete online food handling course + 1.5 hours learning and development per month. (May be at Chances House, Online or elsewhere)  

This does not include travel time. Flexible volunteer options may be available  

 

SUPERVISION & REPORTING 

Your direct supervisor is the Volunteer Coordinator.  
The CEO may also provide supervision if the Volunteer Coordinator is unavailable 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

 

  • Food preparation 
  • Serve food to clients 
  • Operate and clean the coffee appliances
  • Clean surfaces and appliances, empty bins, sweep & mop floor, 
  • Keep fridge clean
  • Food rotation and labelling
  • Maintain a clean workspace and hygienic food handling processes 
  • Use a trauma informed approach to provide client support 
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment at Chances House.
  • Ensure you maintain the privacy and confidential of service users, volunteers and staff. 
  • Participate in regular meetings and training sessions.
  • Effectively utilise the online volunteer portal for checking and updating your roster, learning, and communication with us.

  • Actively engage in information and trainings sessions and support emergency preparedness.

  • Current Working with Children Blue Card (or agree to apply with support from us)
