Client Care Crew Member
ROLE PURPOSE & HOW YOU HELP
As a Client Care Crew Member you will play a vital role in supporting people experiencing homelessness access and utilise our services at Chances House. You will demonstrate a trauma informed approach in alignment with our mission, vision and values.
LOCATION: Chances House - 2 Endeavour Street Mackay
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Volunteer
HOURS:
One X 4 to 6-hour client support shift per week (at Chances House)
Shifts are available Monday to Friday.
6 hour shifts - Start: 7:00am - Finish: 1:00PM
4 hour shifts – Start: 9:00am – Finish 1:00pm
One x 1-hour learning and development shift per week. (May be at Chances House, Online or elsewhere)
This does not include travel time. Flexible volunteer options may be available.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet people when they arrive
- Record other service provider visits
- Assist new service users to review and sign the Consent Form & Terms of Use
- Explain the services offered at Chances House
- Orientation to facilities, and services
- Maintain a clean and tidy environment. (every shift involves cleaning) Sanitising surfaces, cleaning toilets, sweeping, mopping, washing dishes and tidying all client areas, Empty bins
- Re-stock food supplies in client kitchen area
- Receiving donations and putting away.
- Attend shift toolbox meetings, to discuss roles and responsibilities for the shift.
- Monitoring clients when sleeping
- Monitoring client interactions, and report critical incidents
- Manage client interactions as per the agreed shift roles and responsibilities.
- Assist with lunch food service
- Assist clients with essential items. (tents, sleeping bags, toiletries, first aid supplies.)
- Assist with the closing
- Support clients to leave at closing time.
- Locking doors
- Final cleaning
- Use a trauma informed approach to provide client support and basic health care services to individuals experiencing homelessness who attend Chances House.
- Utilise negotiation, conflict management and de-escalation skills to manage relationships with clients.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment at Chances House.
- Ensure you maintain the privacy and confidential of service users, volunteers and staff.
- Contribute to the planning and execution of support programs and services.
- Participate in regular meetings and training sessions.
- Effectively utilise the online volunteer portal for checking and updating your roster, learning, and communication with us.
