On Call Event Volunteer
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington serves over 140,000 individuals each year through 57 different programs located across Washington, D.C. and the surrounding Maryland counties. Throughout the year, volunteer roles and projects arise in these programs that require help for a few hours. Sign up to be on this list of volunteers who are ready to spring into action on an on-call basis.
On Call Volunteers will be responsible for:
- Reading on-call email alerts, which are typically sent once a month
- Responding to email alerts if they want to get involved
Desired Skills, Experience & Characteristics:
- Spirit of service
- Work on a team to carry out an event or short project
Examples of On Call Events and Projects
- Packaging food for distribution
- Handing out packages of food
- Setting up and breaking down an event for people accessing services of a Catholic Charities program
- Welcoming participants to an event, distributing literature, or giving directions
- Finishing up: very rarely a group will almost complete a project but not quite because they have fewer volunteers than expected so, we need a follow up team to get it done! Examples are planting or painting.

Support:
- Volunteers will learn more about their potential project or role as needs arise
Time Commitment:
- Volunteers will only make a commitment when they want to sign up for a specific event or short project
Location:
- Various sites throughout Washington, D.C., Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, Calvert County, St. Mary’s County, and Charles County
- Locations will be specified in each on-call alert
