Other Species

Did you know that at PSKH we rescue, rehabilitate and release most Australian Wildlife? This year we have already seen a range of different species of birds, reptiles and marsupials. We not only look after animals on site, we also offer our services free of charge to any wildlife rescue organisation needing assistance.

Here are some frequently asked questions for working with the care of our Australian Native Species.

Do I need to do training? I have never work with Australian Native animals before.

As a carer, you will start as a trainee working under the supervision of experienced carer as well as the PSKH veterinary staff and Wildlife Rehabilitators.

We do ask that you commit to a roster on a weekly or fortnightly basis as this best facilitates the retention of knowledge throughout your training. Some of this training for experienced carers joining PSKH will be to learn the routine and policies and procedures that are associated with the care of the wildlife at PSKH.

How long will training take?

Depending upon your availability and knowledge level, training can take from a few weeks to a few months.

When do I need to come in?

We typically work in two different shift a 7:30am to 8:00am start to 11:00 or 12:00pm finish, than in the afternoon from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. There will occasional be lunch time shifts 11:00am to 12:00pm where you can assist as well. Animals need care7-days per week, 52 weeks per year.
