OUTREACH SOCIAL NETWORK ASSISTANT
Location: Geelong and Surrounds VIC
Help to reduce isolation and make a positive impact in the life of a senior person.
Come support a Community Outreach Program designed for young adults who are experiencing social isolation!
The Social Network Group has been designed to bring likeminded people together in an inclusive environment to encourage social connection and emotional health.
Clients are contacted prior to the program starting, where they are asked their likes, dislikes and interests. Client are then matches with people who share similar interests.
This 20-week program occurs three times per year and facilitates an opportunity for participants to come together and visit new locations and participate in new activities based on their common interests. New activities/locations attended across the Geelong area each week. As a result of program participation new community links will be formed.
As a volunteer you will encourage participants to meaningfully engage with others and the community, provide feedback to genU staff on participants welfare and provide an extra set of ‘eyes and ears’.
You will have support with screening, induction and ongoing guidance provided by your Volunteer Coordinator.
The essential details: You must possess self-confidence and be able to engage with others who may have reserved personalities.
Role hours: Program occurs on Thursday afternoons for 3 hours, weekly.
