General Volunteer Fiona Stanley
General Volunteers (GV) will operate in departments within the hospital based on their experience and/or interest. GV will carry out a range of activities designed to support patients and their visitors during their stay at the hospital. A GV may have a more ongoing interaction with a particular ward or clinical service.
Specific responsibilities:
- Provide services to patients to enhance their individual hospital experience. Activities provided may include, but are not limited to storytelling/reading to patients in a variety of ward, IT assistance, flower arranging, mobile games/magazine trolleys within wards, buddy systems, simulation acting for education, self guided tours and companionship.
- Engages with hospital visitors and assisting in answering any questions they may have about location of clinic, wards or other hospital services.
- Volunteers are assigned to a department based on volunteer experience and suitability.
- Way find volunteers will be the first on hand when people attend the hospital. These volunteers will play an important role in ensuring patients/visitors are able to locate specific locations in a timely manner.
