Welcome to Hospice East Bay's volunteer portal! We thank you for your interest in volunteering to help patients and families in your community.
Hospice East Bay offers a diverse range of volunteer opportunities, from providing support to patients and their families to offering grief support for both children and adults. We also offer opportunities to assist with administrative tasks. Training sessions for these volunteer roles are held throughout the year, ensuring everyone is well-prepared to make a meaningful impact.
Please note that at this time, we are only reviewing applications that meet our current urgent needs listed below. Because our volunteer opportunities and patient needs change regularly, we encourage you to check back frequently for updates.
We want to be respectful of your time and commitment, and we believe it’s important to focus on onboarding volunteers for roles where we currently have active assignments. This ensures that each volunteer can begin serving as soon as possible and that their skills are used meaningfully.
Our current urgent volunteer needs are:
Licensed Hair Stylists – to provide haircuts to our patients
Armed Forces Veterans or Active Duty Service Members – to provide Vet-to-Vet visits and ceremonies
Certified Pet Therapy Volunteers – for our Pet Pal Program
Licensed Massage Therapists – to provide massage to our patients
Thank you for your interest in Volunteering with Hospice East Bay!
We’re sharing the information below to help potential volunteers decide if now is the right time to submit an application. Our goal is to make sure that every volunteer has a meaningful, well-supported experience and that their time and talents are used effectively. We deeply value every person interested in volunteering and encourage you to review these details carefully before applying to ensure the program is a good fit for you at this time.
All volunteers play an important role in representing our organization and supporting our mission. To ensure a safe, professional, and rewarding experience for everyone, we ask volunteers to meet the following requirements and expectations:
Background Check & Documentation: All volunteers complete a background check, provide required documentation, and participate in orientation and necessary training.
Time Commitment: Volunteers typically commit to about one hour per week for their assigned tasks.
Ongoing Engagement: To stay connected and continue learning, volunteers are encouraged to join at least three enrichment activities each year.
Compliance & Credentials: Volunteers must stay current with online education modules, maintain a valid ID, and provide proof of required vaccinations (or approved exemptions), health screenings, and any relevant professional certifications.
Communication: Most updates and coordination happen through text and email, so volunteers should be comfortable using these tools, including opening, editing, and sending PDF documents.
Please note that participation in the volunteer program depends on meeting these requirements. Our organization reserves the right to temporarily or permanently deny entry into the program if requirements are not met.
