Our volunteers play a central role in providing a safe and welcoming space between school and home for Austin's youth who need us most.
Here you will find information about a wide variety of volunteering opportunities available to support the important work of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area. If an opportunity is of interest to you, please fill in our online application form.
Remember, to volunteer, you must:
Assist Club staff in running high-quality after-school programming in the four core areas of Boys & Girls Club - Academic Success, Character and Leadership Development, Healthy Lifestyles, and Workforce Development.
Examples: arts and crafts, cooking, gardening, sports, outdoor activities, STEM activities, mentoring, tutoring, and more!
Monday - Friday, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
Gain Experience and Foster Skills in:
Help empower our youth to be physically active and healthy. Support athletic activities and promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Work with Club staff to plan and implement healthy goals and objectives to ensure the overall development of Club members. Specific dates and times are dependent on the needs and schedules of individual clubs.
Gain Experience and Foster Skills in:
Lead Club members through various arts activities and lessons, including painting, drawing, photography, digital media, and other art projects. Share your individual talents and expertise with a group of young aspiring artists. Instill confidence and self-esteem through the use of art. Specific dates and times are dependent on the needs and schedules of individual clubs.
Gain Experience and Foster Skills in:
Help support Club staff in programs and activities that promote character and leadership development for our Club members. Cultivate positive and healthy social-emotional skills related to how youth feel about themselves, their relationships with others, their ability to regulate emotions, and their ability to solve problems. Serve as a role model and help facilitate a positive and safe environment for our Club members to learn and grow.
Gain Experience and Foster Skills in:
Assist Club members with homework during daily "Power Hour" sessions. Work with students toward the accurate completion of homework assignments, the improvement of academic skills and confidence, and/or test preparation. Motivate and encourage members to excel in academics.
Offered during after-school programming: Monday - Friday, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
Gain Experience and Foster Skills in:
Engage Club members in fun, safe, interactive, hands-on learning experiences that support awareness, engagement, and interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Empower young people to create innovative and creative solutions to real-world challenges, and to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that are critical to success in the STEM workforce and beyond.
Examples: coding, robotics, programming, natural sciences, engineering, and more!
Gain Experience and Foster Skills in:
Assist Club staff in running summer programming in the four core areas of the Boys & Girls Clubs - Academic Success, Character and Leadership Development, Healthy Lifestyles, and Workforce Development.
June through August, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 5:30 pm.
Examples: arts and crafts, cooking, outdoor activities, sports, gardening, computer science, digital media, dancing classes, career exploration, field trips, and more!
Gain Experience and Foster Skills in:
Our Workforce Development program provides our Club members with opportunities to explore careers and develop the holistic skills needed for future success. Our goal is to provide our Club members with opportunities to explore their interests and passions, develop their skills, and apply their knowledge to real-world work experiences. As a volunteer, you will help our Club members with the knowledge, skills, and learning experiences they need to succeed in life and work.
Examples: resume writing, interview preparation, presentations, career exploration, college readiness, field trips to career sites, guest speaking, mentoring, etc.
Gain Experience and Foster Skills in:
The BGCAA’s teen program provides a safe and positive space for our Club teens to have fun, learn, and grow. Volunteers would support our teens during after-school hours or during Friday teen nights at our Home Club.
Gain Experience and Foster Skills In:
Help out at Boys & Girls Clubs community events, leading Club members and families through activities, running game booths and tables, and assisting with event set-up and clean-up.
Examples: Great Futures Spring Luncheon, Destination Greatness, Club Classic at Top Golf, National Day for Kids, and Great Futures Gala
