General Interests

Can you help by driving our bus to ensure seafarers get shore leave?

Our bus drivers drive 3 shifts a day, from 10am to 2pm, 2pm to 6pm and from 6pm to 10pm.

Berths are located near to our centre, usually within 10 to 30 minutes away, depending on traffic.

Most docks in Melbourne do not have public access, or public transport, so seafarers are reliant on us to ensure they are able to get to the city.

Could you give our welfare team administrative support?

Our Administrative Volunteers

Our team of administrative volunteer assist our operations in a wide range of different tasks. Depending on your interest, skill level and availability, the volunteering work may be anything between regular lights administrative duties, such as updating the crew on vessels of our services, to higher-level project work such as database organisation and systemising donor records.

We aim to not just provide immediate support to seafarers in Melbourne, but also to reach out to national and international agencies to advocate for seafarers that are often in perilous conditions, both physically and psychologically. To achieve this, it is critical that our services operate clearly and efficiently, that our forward-facing volunteers can operate with as much autonomy and ease-of-action as possible. It is also important that our research is engaged, that we are sourcing as much information from the murky world of seafaring as we are able, and that our data is transparent, accurate and useable. Our administrative team provide assistance through all of these tasks.

If you are willing and able to help with any of this work, please don’t hesitate to fill out an application!
