Job Description
Looking for a fun way to make a significant difference? Join us as an Educational Farm volunteer! You'll play a crucial role in the care and maintenance of our farm, spending time with our animals and helping keep them happy and healthy. Plus, you'll get to share your love of the farm with our guests and visitors, ensuring they have a safe and enjoyable experience!
Commitment
Weekly – same day and time.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Animal Care
- Make sure all our animals are well-fed and hydrated.
- Clean their living spaces – stalls, barn, and outdoor areas.
- Give our furry (and feathered!) friends a little extra TLC with grooming or baths.
Farm Support
- Lend a hand with general farm upkeep.
- Keep track of daily tasks in our farm journal.
- Let the farm staff know if you notice anything important, need supplies, or have any concerns.
- Help out with adoptions when needed.
- Join us for off-site events if you're available!
Community and Teamwork
- Make sure visitors have a safe and fun experience!
- Be a champion for the SPCA Serving Erie County's mission, values, and goals!
Requirements
- Animal and People Skills: You enjoy connecting people with animals and creating positive experiences for everyone.
- Weather Warrior: You're comfortable working outdoors in all kinds of weather – rain, shine, or snow!
- Fit & Ready: You're able to lift, move things around, and get the job done.
- Compassionate Heart: You understand that sometimes difficult decisions must be made for our animals' well-being.
- Allergy-Friendly: You can handle a little dust, fur, feathers, hay, grasses, and the great outdoors without any major issues.
- Kindness is Key: You treat all animals, visitors, volunteers, and staff with the utmost respect and care.
- Team Player: You're a great communicator and enjoy working with others.
- Volunteers are required to participate in creating a thriving culture of philanthropy at the SPCA Serving Erie County by increasing awareness and support of our organization. This is achieved by being knowledgeable and supportive of SPCA programs and events, sharing your passion for service to animals and people within our community, and serving as an inspiration by providing an exemplary level of animal care and guest service.
