Donation Sorting and Distribution Volunteer in the Animal Care Department

Job Description

Join our amazing team of volunteers! In this role, you'll be a superhero for our Animal Care Department, helping with the tasks of processing donations, sorting through the goodies, and making sure they find their way to various spots in the shelter. Plus, lend a paw with some shelter laundry – it's all about spreading kindness and making a positive impact!

Commitment

We're looking for at least three hours of your awesome time per week, anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.!

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Let's turn kindness into action! Grab those generous donations from the lobby, have a blast sorting through them, and make our garage a center of organization.
  • Spread the love by organizing the donations shelves and ensuring the goodies find their way to every nook and cranny in the shelter.
  • Become a laundry wizard as you process towels, blankets, bedding and more through our industrial machines and turn that clean laundry into a work of art with some folding and organizing.
  • Let's keep the garage area spick and span – take out the trash, give it a good sweep, and keep those carriers sparkling.
  • Every rescue, every adoption, every happy bark, purr, and squeak – that's what drives us here at the SPCA. We all share the same values and goals and believe that every volunteer should feel the same! Everyone’s help makes a difference for animals!

Requirements

  • Get ready for some action! Stretch, twist, squat, and bend – you’ve got to have moves that keep things exciting!
  • Flex those muscles as you independently lift and push items ranging from 20 to 50 pounds. You've got this!
  • Embrace the hustle and bustle of our lively shelter, navigating tasks with a smile and rocking it independently.
  • Navigate tight, crowded spaces like a pro, even if the surfaces get a bit slippery!
  • You’ll also sprinkle kindness everywhere you go – it’s part of our mission! From animals and guests to volunteers and staff, your exceptional warmth will make a difference.
  • Let’s be an awesome team – your willingness to work with and respectfully communicate with our fantastic staff and volunteers is the key to success!
