Job Description

Join our awesome Community Support Services team this spring and summer and be the first friendly face for people and their furry friends in need. You'll play a vital role in greeting and guiding them toward the support they need.

Commitment

We’re looking for volunteers Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon, especially from noon to 4 p.m.!

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Ready to make a difference for pets and their people? This versatile volunteer role with our Community Support Services team is perfect for you! Here's what you'll do:

  • Be a welcoming paw: Greet people and their furry friends with a warm smile and assess their needs.
  • Navigate the paperwork: Guide guests through the necessary forms to get things started.
  • Become a lobby superhero: Keep our space clean, organized, and stocked with essentials (think treats!).
  • Connect the dots: Communicate about incoming guests and their needs to our staff.

Every rescue, every adoption, every happy bark, purr, and squeak – that's what drives us here at the SPCA. We all share the same values and goals and believe that every volunteer should feel the same! Everyone’s help makes a difference for animals!

Requirements

  • Be a listening rock: Offer a compassionate ear and a shoulder to lean on, even when things get tough. Don't worry, we'll train you to navigate challenging situations while always maintaining professionalism.
  • Become a shelter expert: Learn about all the amazing services we offer to the community, from adoptions to resources. Don't worry, we'll help you become a whiz in no time!
  • Guide families with care: Be there to discuss different options, including alternative surrender choices and end-of-life support, with empathy and understanding. We'll equip you with the skills and resources to navigate these sensitive conversations effectively.
  • You’ll also sprinkle kindness everywhere you go – it’s part of our mission! From animals and guests to volunteers and staff, your exceptional warmth will make a difference.
  • Let’s be an awesome team – your willingness to work with and respectfully communicate with our fantastic staff and volunteers is the key to success!
