The city of Ely has built up around the historical monastic buildings which date back over a thousand years. Today the Cathedral remains at the centre of a vibrant community serving both the City and Diocese of Ely and the local area.
We are delighted to have 350 + volunteers, from a wide variety of backgrounds, who support our ongoing mission and work.
Below are the various opportunities we currently have available. Please spend some time looking through and reading the relevant role descriptions. The first stage in the process is to submit a digital application. Once received, we will then invite you in for an 'informal chat'. We look forward to hearing from you!

Provide a warm welcome in this visitor facing retail role, sharing the stories behind our products and supporting the smooth operation of the Cathedral Shop.
We require people for specific shift patterns:
- Tuesdays - 14.00 - 16.30
- Wednesdays - 14.00 - 16.30
- Saturdays - 14.00 - 16.30

Flower Guild Member
Join our wonderful team of flower arrangers and enjoy using your artistic talent to create beautiful displays throughout the building.

Welcome Team Member
Become a member of our Welcome Team and provide a well-informed and hospitable welcome to our many and varied visitors. Be a visible presence, ready to engage, inform, and assist, helping people feel confident during their visit.

Learning
Support our busy, vibrant and creative Learning Team in delivering sessions to school groups (primary and secondary). Moreover, help provide engaging family activities during school holidays and weekends.

Ely Cathedral Octagon Singers
Ely Cathedral Octagon Singers (ECOS) is our adult voluntary choir. Those with choral experience and good vocal skills are especially suited for this role.
As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to undergo an informal friendly audition.
