Volunteers are especially important to Tassie Mums, they form part of a dedicated team and Tassie Mums relies on this team to fulfil its purpose. Together we can help more Tasmanian babies and children have a happy and safe start to life.
It is important to Tassie Mums that all volunteers can operate in a safe, respectful and supportive environment. We encourage all volunteers to be involved, welcome new ideas and listen to and action concerns. Any areas of expertise that volunteers may wish to bring to the Tassie Mums community are also welcomed.
We continually take all possible steps towards ensuring that our volunteers enjoy their participation with Tassie Mums in a safe and supportive environment.
Who are we?
Tassie Mums is a not-for-profit largely volunteer led group that is passionate about providing essential items to vulnerable and at-risk babies and children in need. We collect donations of new and preloved baby and children’s clothing and other small items through donation bins which are supported by local individuals, schools and businesses.
Donations are carefully sorted and bundled by volunteers and then “rehomed” via social service organisations to Tasmanian families across the state. The recipients of bundles are determined by the welfare agencies which request goods from Tassie Mums. Tassie Mums has no direct contact with end recipients.
I'd like to volunteer, what should I do now?
We are excited that you'd like to join the Tassie Mums team, you can use the button at the top of the screen to 'Fill in an Application' once finished you will receive an initial welcome email however it may take up to 8 weeks or more before you can attend a scheduled induction session at our Kingston warehouse space depending on the time of year. Induction sessions generally take place during school terms 3-4 times a year and close from Dec-Jan.
