Year-Round Volunteer Opportunities - Court-Ordered Community Service
Comunity Service work includes assisting in the following areas:
Building Upkeep and Maintenance - You will assist with vacuuming, sweeping and mopping floors, setting up and taking down tables/chairs, outside grounds upkeep, etc.
Food Pantry - You would be assisting with tasks such as sorting food donations, pre-packing food bags for clients, assisting with deliveries that come in
Seasonal Activities - Help with the Post Office Food Drive in May by folding plastic bags, working on the loading dock of a post office unloading food from the mail trucks, pre-sorting food donations that come in. Assisting in our building with setting up the gym with tables and signage, date checking each donated item, sorting food, boxing food items and other various activities associated with a large-scale food drive.
During November you will be assisting with Thanksgiving distribution activities such as setting up the gym to pack food boxes, packing food boxes and assisting with their distribution to clients.
In December you could be assisting with Red Kettle Campaign to prepare equipment to be delivered to each bell ringing site. This includes loading and unloading equipment into designated vehicles, assist our staff with delivering and setting up equipment at designated locations. You will also be assigned to ring the bell during the season.
Misc. activities/tasks - You will assist with other items that come up in the course of the day.
This position requires a lot of flexibility of the community service volunteer, as you will not necessarily be doing the same thing all day long or every day that you are here.
During the months of June-August, we have a Summer Day Camp for youth that takes place during the day. Depending on your charge, you may have an altered schedule or not be able to complete community service during this time.
This is a physical opportunity where you will be doing the following: bending, stooping, climbing a ladder, working with power tools, being outside in all types of weather conditions.
