E.V.O.L.V.E. Program Assistance - Virtual Classroom Facilitator
This role will provide a quality experience for young adults that focuses on building achievement, belonging and a sense of purpose. This position will facilitate virtual activities designed to teach academic, social, and life skills to young adult participants with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
A successful facilitator will
- Implement curriculum within the established guidelines
- Build participants’ confidence by making the class experience meaningful, interactive, and engaging
- Cultivate positive relationships among the group
- Establish socially acceptable behavior among the group, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement
- Identify the developmental needs of others and provide coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others to improve their knowledge or skills
Critical skills / traits preferred
- Positive Energy and Enthusiastic
- Classroom and/or facilitation experience
- Have a passion for working with and mentoring individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to listen carefully to individual needs and give positive feedback
- Strong sense of presence
- Excellent follow-up and persuasion skills with the ability to resolve conflict
Qualifications Required
- Background Check
- Are you willing to commit a minimum of 2 - 5 hours per week in your assigned role? Must be Yes
- Do you agree to abide by current CDC, County and local requirements regarding COVID-19 during volunteer activities? Must be Yes
- Do you have experience working with the Intellectually and Developmentally dis-ABLED Population? Must be Yes
- Do you have volunteer experience? Must be Yes
