Administrative Support - Diabetes Education Program Admin Volunteer
DIABETES EDUCATION PROGRAM
The Diabetes Education Program helps individuals manage prediabetes and diabetes through personalized support and education on healthy eating, physical activity, and medication. It aims to empower participants by providing them with the knowledge and skills needed for effective self-management, promoting healthy lifestyle choices to improve overall health.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet, welcome, and direct program participants to the designated program area for in-person diabetes education workshops.
- Assemble and organize educational packages for program participants.
- Photocopy and prepare materials needed for workshops and appointments.
- Collaborate with the Diabetes Education Team to identify and take on additional tasks or responsibilities that align with the program's needs and the volunteer's interests and skills.
QUALIFICATIONS /REQUIRED SKILLS
- Good communication skills to work effectively with staff and other volunteers.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and privacy of sensitive information.
- Interest in healthcare and community programs is an asset.
- Must complete a Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check.
SUPERVISION
- Each volunteer will be assigned a staff supervisor.
- The staff super supervisor or another designated staff will be available (either in person or by phone) if a question or issue arises.
ORIENTATION/TRAINING
- Complete the Volunteer Application Form.
- Volunteers are required to submit the following before beginning their position: Vulnerable Sector Police Check, Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination, 2 References.
- Complete orientation training modules and read required policies. Approximately 5 hours will be required to complete this training.
EVALUATION
- Volunteers receive ongoing performance feedback from their staff supervisor and/or volunteer coordinator. Volunteers can provide and request feedback as required.
- Volunteers are encouraged to participate in an annual volunteer experience survey.
TIME COMMITMENT, REQUIRED HOURS & LOCATION
Time Commitment: 4 months
