Sports Park Host at Jess Martin County Park in Julian, CA - NOW RECRUITING!

Do you enjoy the outdoors and want to contribute to a thriving community space? We’re looking for a committed Park Host to join us at Jess Martin County Park starting mid-March 2026 for a minimum 12-month stay.

Located in the historic mountain town of Julian, CA, Jess Martin County Park is a 9-acre gem offering athletic fields, playgrounds, walking trails, and sweeping views. This is a fantastic opportunity to live on-site and help care for a park that serves locals and visitors alike.

New for 2026: A modernized water system is currently being installed to support upgraded utility access for park hosts!

Primary Responsibilities:

• Mowing, spin trimming, and hula hoeing for grounds maintenance
• Dragging and maintaining ball fields
• Tree watering to support healthy landscaping
• Trash pickup and emptying park trash cans
• Restroom cleaning and restocking
• Assist staff with various park maintenance tasks
• Offering friendly assistance and information to park visitors
• Supporting special events and educating the public about park guidelines

Requirements:

• A reliable, self-contained motorhome or travel trailer with kitchen, bathroom, and shower (in good repair)
• Willingness to commit to 20 volunteer hours per week (shared if two people)
• Able to lift up to 25lbs and work independently
• Must be 18+, pass a background check, and be available to volunteer on weekends and holidays

The Park Host site at Jess Martin County Park offers a comfortable and functional base for your volunteer service. Located in the southwest corner of the park, the site is positioned for easy access while offering some privacy and space.

• Shade: Partial in fall and winter; full sun during spring and summer
• Water Hookups: Yes – available upon completion of an updated potable water system (sourced from a DPR-managed well system)
• Electric Hookups: 50, 30, and 20-amp options

• Mobile Phone Coverage: Yes (AT&T, Verizon, etc.)
