About the Program
Aldinga Community Centre is a vibrant Centre that offers a range of services, activities, and programs for Aldinga and its surrounding suburbs. The Centre is mainly staffed by volunteers and works towards building and strengthening the community.
Our Community Shed is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support people of various capabilities to learn and engage in basic woodwork, carpentry, and other activities. You’ll be responsible for encouraging shed users to act safely and respectfully to ensure that equipment is used correctly and responsibly.
Key Tasks
- Support the coordination and administration of the General Carpentry program.
- Provide support to participants with their creative works and/or or come up with projects in which others can also be involved in.
- Assisting with set up and pack down.
Skills/Knowledge/Personal Qualities
- Advanced carpentry and joinery skills and experience is desirable.
- Experience in adult training.
- Friendly and personable.
- A passion for WHS along with thorough knowledge and experience relating to the use of carpentry tools, manual handling, and hazardous chemicals.
Time Commitment
Any of the following:
- Mondays 8am–3pm (General Carpentry)
- Thursdays 8am–3pm (Men’s Day)
- Saturdays 7am–12.30pm (Wood Carving & Turning)
