Wakefield House Positive Ageing Centre - Driver
About the Program
Our Active Ageing team provides the Wakefield House bus service to increase the wellbeing of older residents and people with disabilities. The service provides social inclusion opportunities to access programs and services at the Positive Ageing Centre. As a volunteer bus driver, you will make a real difference by providing transport for older people to and from the centre.
Key Tasks

Provide a professional, welcoming and friendly service

Drive a Council Bus in accordance with the relevant Road Traffic Act

Ensure the safety of passengers whilst entering, travelling and alighting from the vehicle and provide support with walkers and bags per manual handling procedures

Report all incidents, hazards, near misses and accidents as soon as reasonably
practicable.
Skills/Knowledge/Personal Qualities

Friendly, relaxed and flexible disposition with an empathy for an ageing community and/or people with a disability

Ability to relate to people from a wide range of backgrounds

Level of fitness to effectively perform the role.

Reliable and ability to work as a team member
Time Commitment
Available from approximately 9am to 1:30pm on Wednesdays and/or Fridays (Times will vary depending on the number of passengers to collect).
Special Requirements
Must possess and provide a Department of Human Services (DHS) clearance (Aged Care Sector) prior to offer.
(This can be organised for you).
Current C class drivers’ licence and competent to drive a 12-seater bus.
