Join the magic of storytime by volunteering as a Storytime Sidekick! We're looking for cheerful, dependable volunteers to assist with our weekly storytime sessions.

This is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who enjoys working with young children, loves a lively environment, and wants to help create joyful early literacy experiences. Storytimes are held most mornings in various library locations.  Because this is a weekly gathering, a regular commitment is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare the storytime space and welcome children and families.
• Assist the librarian during storytime sessions.
• Help with crowd management and attendance tracking.
• Tidy up the space after storytime ends.

Qualifications:

• Friendly, dependable, and enjoys working with young children and families.
• Comfortable in a lively, energetic environment.
• Reliable and able to follow directions from library staff.
• Prior experience with children is helpful but not required.

Commitment:

• Weekly storytime sessions at branch library locations.
• 2 hours per session from 10:30-12:30 pm with a regular weekly commitment preferred.
• Currently recruiting volunteers for the following weekly shifts:
  • Thursdays at College Terrace Library
  • Fridays at Downtown Library
  • Saturdays at Mitchell Park Library
  • Sundays at Rinconada Library
