Youth Engagement Ranger

Help us to inspire the next generation of conservationists in the importance of our peatlands!

The role includes supporting leaders in preparing for and delivering activities aimed at groups of young people, typically raging from Key Stage 2 but covering everyone up to 25. This can be a really dynamic area as scheduled activities vary greatly due to the large age range.

Many activities will take place on moorland sites in a range of locations covered by Moors for the Future but some events may be scheduled in other locations such as on schools sites.

As well as supporting the planned events for young people, there is plenty of scope to develop new engagement materials and ideas, e.g. for guided walks and talks, find additional events to add to our calendar of engagement and work with volunteers from partner organisations.

• On-going occasional: Weekday and/or weekends.
• Full training provided.
• Working at various locations.
• Driving license and own transport would be advantageous but not a requirement.

• A DBS check would be required.

This role is ideal for someone with a high level of enthusiasm with an affinity for working with young people; inspiring them to explore their moorlands and spreading the Bogtastic message. Skills gained: Transferable communication skills including; ability to work as part of team and follow communication protocols. Good knowledge and understanding of moorland conservation and Community Science surveys. Confidence in communicating with varied audiences. Experience of working with young people towards various objectives.
