Culture Volunteers Poole - Culture Volunteer Coordinator

A Culture Volunteer Coordinator at a roadshow

Role Description

Why should you apply?
We're busy developing and expanding the Culture Volunteer Programme. We currently have over 850 volunteers on our database who are signed up to volunteer on a wide variety of projects right across the Museum, Libraries, Arts, Recreation and Skills & Learning areas. Our volunteers support both one-off events such as the hugely successful celebration for the opening of the Twin Sails Bridge which involved over 80 volunteers, the award-winning Inside Out performance Mobile Homme, exhibitions such as Lines of Thought and Augustus John at Poole Museum, plus ongoing opportunities such as working in the Poole History Centre or at the Scaplen’s Court Garden. We also give volunteer support to the 10 libraries across Poole. Some of our volunteers have been with us for many years and new volunteers are joining us every week. All this takes a lot of organising and managing. That's where you come in.

About you:
Are you enthusiastic about volunteering? Perhaps having been a volunteer yourself, with an ability to inspire others to get involved in volunteering too? We are looking for someone who has great communication skills, who can talk to talk to all sorts of people whether face to face, by phone or email. It would be great if you have an understanding of diversity issues and of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children. Organised and methodical, you would be keeping accurate records and be happy working in a small team where cooperation and mutual support are essential.

What can we do for you?
You will be provided with courses, development and support, you'll be a core part of the arts and museums team and your reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed which can include travel and childcare costs up to £15 per shift.

Availability Options:
As this is a key role in the team, we are looking for someone to be available for a minimum of one day per week and preferably two or more. You will of course be able to discuss and agree your exact hours/days with the Volunteer Manager. Days can be flexible each week.

Frequency & Duration: Ongoing

Next Steps:

For more information about the role and an application form, please call Donna Price (Volunteer Manager) on 01202 262601 or email culturevolunteers@poole.gov.uk.
