The Inn of the Good Shepherd - Sarnia

As a Bingo Volunteer with The Inn of the Good Shepherd, you will represent our organization during scheduled charitable gaming shifts at Jackpot Time Sarnia. This role involves light customer service tasks, monitoring the gaming floor, and supporting the fundraising efforts that help fund critical programs at The Inn. Volunteers in this role play an important part in maintaining our eligibility for charitable gaming funds by ensuring a visible and helpful presence during our assigned time slots.

The General Maintenance Volunteer provides hands-on assistance with light maintenance and minor repair tasks around The Inn of the Good Shepherd. This flexible, as-needed role supports the upkeep and safety of our facilities by helping with small jobs such as fixing furniture, mending fences, hanging shelves, or assisting staff with general handiwork. Volunteers in this role help ensure that our spaces remain safe, functional, and welcoming for clients, staff, and fellow volunteers.

The Soup Kitchen - Team Lead is responsible for organizing and coordinating a group of volunteers to prepare and serve meals at The Inn of the Good Shepherd. This leadership role includes team coordination, meal planning, food preparation, service, and cleanup. The Team Lead ensures a smooth and respectful experience for both volunteers and clients, while maintaining food safety standards and upholding The Inn’s mission of dignity and compassion.

Soup Kitchen - Team Members play a vital hands-on role in preparing, serving, and cleaning up after meals provided through The Inn of the Good Shepherd’s Soup Kitchen. Working under the guidance of the Team Lead and staff, volunteers help ensure that meals are served safely, efficiently, and with compassion to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

Special Events Volunteers provide flexible, as-needed support at various fundraising and community events held throughout the year. These may include food drives such as Cops 4 Cans or CANstruction, public outreach events like our summer Client BBQ, and seasonal fundraisers such as Cash Calendar sales. Volunteers help represent The Inn of the Good Shepherd in the community, engaging with the public, collecting donations, and helping events run smoothly. This is a great opportunity for volunteers who enjoy variety, people, and making a difference in a hands-on way.

Warehouse Assistant volunteers support the smooth and safe flow of donations through The Inn’s warehouse. From unloading deliveries and weighing items to organizing donations and maintaining clear walkways, this physically active role is vital to the day-to-day functioning of our programs. Volunteers work closely with staff and other team members to ensure that donations are received, processed and shelved accurately and efficiently.
