Outdoor Conservation Work - Chalgrove Brook Chalk Stream Work Party

Project Overview:
As part of our Chalk Stream Strategy, we’ve been organising volunteer work parties along the Chalgrove Brook, one of the few tributaries of the Thame with wild Brown Trout. Volunteers have been cutting back vegetation, planting aquatic species, and building woody structures in the stream. These actions aim to improve the habitat by allowing more sunlight, clearing sediment from gravel beds (which is important for trout breeding), and increasing plant and animal diversity, creating healthier conditions for fish and aquatic life.

You can learn more about the project here: Chalk Stream Strategy

Volunteer Opportunity – Chalgrove Brook, Cuxham

We will be cutting back vegetation along a stretch of the Chalgrove Brook in Cuxham that has become overshaded and no longer receives sunlight. Our efforts will allow us to reintroduce important aquatic plant species, like the iconic chalk stream species, Water Crowfoot.
