Sidewalker for Hippotherapy - Ranch

👟 About the Opportunity:

In Hippotherapy, clients receive either physical, occupational, or speech therapy while riding a horse. The program is delivered by a licensed therapist along with a team of staff and volunteers, utilizing the horse's movement as part of the treatment strategy. Clients benefit from improved motor skills, communication, balance, core strength and confidence.

Considerations:

  • Should be able to walk for extended durations on uneven ground
  • Should be able to assist clients on/off the horse
  • This role has limited horse interaction
  • Caution: May develop sore cheeks from smiling so much☺️
  • Be prepared to make a difference in the lives of children

What Volunteers will do:

  • Walk with clients to maintain balance and safety while riding the horse
  • Receives & implements guidance from CTRI & treating therapists
  • Assist with helmet collection/storage
  • Sanitize supplies & toys used during sessions
  • Maintain professionalism & kindness towards clients and families
