About the Opportunity
Volunteers in the Academy Classroom provide meaningful support to students in grades K–12 with disabilities, including autism, while helping create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. 

What volunteers may do?

• Assist teachers and support students during classroom instruction
• Encourage positive social interactions and peer engagement
• Help students follow classroom routines, schedules, and transitions
• Participate in special events, celebrations, field trips, and school-wide activities
• Encourage student confidence, independence, and participation in all activities
• Maintain a positive, respectful, patient, and supportive attitude with students and staff
• Follow all safety, confidentiality, and school policies and procedures

• Compassionate, patient, and dependable
• Comfortable working with children and teens with diverse abilities
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to adapt to varying classroom and student needs

Impact

By volunteering in the Academy Classroom, individuals help create meaningful experiences that support student learning, development, independence, and inclusion while making a lasting difference in the lives of children and families.

Schedule

1. Monday through Friday - flexible daytime shifts during the school year
2. No prior experience is required. Training and support will be provided.
