Volunteer Lawyer - (Civil Law)
We are now accepting men and gender-diverse applicants for our volunteer lawyer positions.
We are in need of a female Volunteer Lawyer who practices in the area of Civil Law to join our amazing volunteer team!
Program description: The Women’s Centre Legal Advice Clinic offers one-time free 30-minute legal advice appointments to women in a safe, supportive and confidential space.
Our volunteer lawyers:
- Provide half hour free legal advice appointments to women.
- Are actively practicing law
- Can offer a minimum commitment of 2 hours per month on an on-going basis
- Have Accreditation as a practicing lawyer in Canada
Requirements:
- Have accreditation as a practicing lawyer in Alberta.
- Must have your lawyer's insurance coverage.
- Ability to work with a diverse range of women in a non-judgmental manner.
- Participation in an initial orientation session.
- An interest in women's issues and in helping women.
- Good listening and communication skills.
- A willingness to work within the philosophy of the Women's Centre.
** Women’s Centre is registered as an Approved Legal Service Provider. This means volunteer lawyers who is otherwise exempt from indemnity coverage, are covered for volunteer legal services:
