Our Welfare Volunteers play a vital role in supporting the people who access our services (Friends). As part of the Welfare Team, you'll provide a friendly, compassionate presence by listening, offering guidance and helping individuals access the support they need.

The Welfare team leader will need to attend Welfare meetings and Team Leader meetings regularly, supervise the team, contribute in communication channels and handle escalations or safeguarding concerns. You will be working alongside an experienced Team Leader who will show you the ropes.

What we're looking for

We're looking for a Welfare Team Leader who is:

  • Compassionate, patient and understanding
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills
  • Reliable and committed
  • Flexible and willing to support where needed
  • Good people management skills or experience (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding & Mental Health support (Desirable)

Experience working with vulnerable adults is beneficial but not essential.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and provide the training and support you need to succeed in the role.

Recruitment & Induction

Before joining the Welfare Team, you'll complete an informal interview which if successful, will be followed by a full induction with our HR & Recruitment team. This will help you understand how People's Kitchen operates, build confidence in supporting our Friends and ensure you're well prepared for your welfare volunteer role.

If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, we'd love to receive your application.
