Group Projects - Invasive Species Removal

Tasks:  Work with MetroParks Operation Staff as we meet to continuously work on beating back the invasive species in our parks making room for native species to thrive!
Group size/age restrictions: This project can be completed in groups ranging in size from 5-40 volunteers; and can be completed by both adult and youth groups with parental supervision.
Available Dates:   This project can be completed year-round (dependent on weather and availability of materials)

  • Governor Bebb MetroPark (Okeana)
  • Green Heron MetroPark (Hamilton)
  • Indian Creek MetroPark (Oxford)
  • Line Hill Mound MetroPark (Hamilton)
  • Meadow Ridge MetroPark (Trenton)
  • Rentschler Forest MetroPark (Hamilton)
  • Sebald MetroPark (Trenton)
  • Timberhill MetroPark (Hamilton)
  • Timberman Ridge MetroPark (Hamilton)
  • Miami Woods (Hamilton)
What to Wear & Bring:
  • Long pants
  • Sturdy, closed-toed shoes
  • Weather-appropriate clothing and layers (Warm jacket, rain jacket, hat, extra layer, etc.)
  • Sunglasses (Optional; For sun protection during outside activities.)
  • Work gloves (Optional; Available through MetroParks.)
  • Water bottle (we will have a refill station avalible)
  • Snacks
  • MetroParks will provide all other tools necessary to complete the tasks for the day.
Weather: We will work through light rain but cancel for thunderstorms or severe weather.  please check the forecast to ensure you all bring the necessary items and wear the proper clothing.
 
Accommodations: The MetroParks may provide accommodation to volunteer project participants depending on the nature of the tasks. Any request must be sent directly to the Manager of Volunteer Resources at least two days before the project begins.
