Group Projects - Tree Cage Maintenance

Tasks: The MetroParks is home to several reforestation projects and the tree cages that protect those young saplings periodically need maintenance to ensure they continue to protect the trees from competing invasive species, repair storm damage, and being grazed by wildlife
Group size/age restrictions: This project can be completed in groups ranging in size from 5 to 20 volunteers; and can be completed by both adult groups
Available Dates/project length: This project can be completed from March 1st through October 31st (dependent on weather and availability of materials)
Project Locations:
- Meadow Ridge MetroPark (Trenton)
- Angst Nature Preserve MetroPark (Hamilton)
What to Wear & Bring:
- Long pants
- Sturdy, closed-toed shoes
- Weather-appropriate clothing and layers (Warm jacket, rain jacket, hat, extra layer, etc.)
- Sunglasses (Optional; For sun protection during outside activities.)
- Work gloves (Optional; Available through MetroParks.)
- Water bottle (we will have a refill station avalible)
- Snacks
- MetroParks will provide all other tools necessary to complete the tasks for the day.
Weather: We will work through light rain but cancel for thunderstorms or severe weather. please check the forecast to ensure you all bring the necessary items and wear the proper clothing.
Accommodations: The MetroParks may provide accommodation to volunteer project participants depending on the nature of the tasks. Any request must be sent directly to the Manager of Volunteer Resources at least two days before the project begins.
