Education - Nature in a Blink: Monarch Tagging
Event Description:
Each fall, monarch butterflies migrate up to thousands of miles to their overwintering sites in Mexico. Learn what makes these insects unique, as well as how to safely capture, tag, and release them. Become part of an international effort to contribute valuable data protecting this endangered phenomenon, and learn what you can do to promote their success.
Dates, Times, and Location:
Saturday, September 19th, 12:30 pm-2:30 pm Timberman Ridge MetroPark 1976 Timberman Rd, Hamilton OH 45013
Task:
Assist staff in setting up information, stations, crowd control, data input, release of butterflies.
Weather:
We will work through light rain and snow but cancel for thunderstorms or severe weather. Please check the forecast to ensure you all bring the necessary items and wear the proper clothing.
Accommodations:
The MetroParks may provide accommodation to volunteer project participants depending on the nature of the tasks. Any request must be sent directly to the Manager of Volunteer Resources at least two days before the project begins
