As a MetroParks of Butler County volunteer, you can support your local recreational areas, conservation and restoration efforts, educational programs, and more for our community now and for generations to come.

Through our program, you can join us for ongoing and one-time opportunities as an individual volunteer or as a team. Our opportunities offer experiences in projects and programs like invasive species removal, farm animal care, trail maintenance, nest box monitoring, garden management, historical interpretation, and more.

And below are a few highlights of our upcoming volunteer opportunities!

Education

Do you like working with the public? These volunteer opportunities are some of our most public-facing! You will work directly with our Programming and Education Department, as they provide both public and private educational programs with audiences ranging from children to seniors. These can take place during the week or on the weekends, with topics ranging from pioneer history to the natural sciences and more!

Education volunteers also care for both the farm animals at Chrisholm Historic Farmstead and our programming reptiles and amphibians used for teaching, both groups require regular weekly care that volunteers can participate in.

Recreation

These projects primarily focus on maintaining, repairing, and reporting issues with park facilities used by the general public, such as trail maintenance, shelter painting, graffiti cleanups, seasonal sports facility maintenance, and structural repairs.

This is also where volunteers can sign up to participate as Trail Ambassadors, who serve as extra eyes in our parks to help staff resolve issues in the parks and on the trails.
