One to One Visiting
Living in a residential care facility brings about many feelings for our residents. Many feel safe and secure in the knowledge they are being cared for to the high standard set by Juniper, but some miss the social contacts they've had in the past.
The role of a one to one volunteer is important in helping break this sense of isolation and loneliness and residents appreciate have their own special visitor. Volunteers interested in this role should be prepared to commit for many months to ensure the residents do not experience frequent losses by churning of helpers and loss of special relationships.
Some of our residents live with dementia and all volunteers are encouraged to learn more about this disease by joining the world class, free online training available at the University of Tasmanian Wicking Centre.
