One to One Visitor
Living in a residential care facility brings about many feelings for our residents. Many feel safe and secure in the knowledge they are being cared for to the high standard set by Juniper, but some miss the social contacts they've had in the past.
The role of the One to one Visitor Volunteer is important in helping break the sense of isolation and loneliness some residents experience. Our One to one Visitor Volunteers spend time with individual residents, having a cuppa and talking about daily events or reminiscing - and residents really appreciate have their own special visitor.
Volunteers interested in this role should be prepared to commit for regular volunteering across many months to ensure continuity for the residents.
Some of our residents live with Dementia and all volunteers are encouraged to learn more about this condition by joining the free online training available through Dementia Training Australia or at the University of Tasmanian Wicking Centre.
